    Tower hardware for Kubuntu

New to the forum, but not to Linux, networking, or Kubuntu. I have a home network, one computer is dying. Where can I find a tower and included hardware that will work with Kubuntu 20.04 (LTS)? Thanks.

I thought about building a new tower but abandoned it. Overall don't buy the latest and greatest and avoid those fancy video cards. Personally I like Intel as it's well supported and I don't game. Here is what I had before I gave up

    CPU: Intel Core i7 9700K 3.6GHz $324
    RAM: Corsair 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 3200MHz $145
    Motherboard: Gigabyte Z390 UD $135
    Cooler: Noctua NH-U12A BF19 $94
    HDD: Seagate Barracuda 4TB 5400RPM SATA 3.5” $82
    Power: Corsair RM750X V2 750W $103
Case: Fractal Design Define C Black $67

My (self built) hardware is as follows:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7, 3700X Cpu.
      RAM: 32gb DDR4 Ram.
Motherboard: MSI B500M Pro VDH Wifi Motherboard.
GPU: Nvidia GTX 1660 GPU with 6Gb DDR5 ram (from a previous build)
      Cooler: Arctic Freezer 34 eSports Duo Black/White CPU Cooler - 2 x 120mm
Storage: 500gb NVME SSD for root partition, and a 2TB 7200rpm hard drive for /home partition.

And old Raijentek Arcadia case from a couple of builds ago. That lot, excluding the GPU & Case as these were used from a previos build, came to around £550 (GBP). Computer parts have risen in price the past year or so due to the pandemic!

      Running Kubuntu 20.04.3

I suppose the easiest way would be to use a local computer supplies store, which could sell a bare bones system without any OS installed?

Thanks to Fred47 and brianinnes. I live in Belize, so it takes at least a month to get something from Amazon, and returning stuff isn't really an option, so hints like these are very helpful.

I recently started a similar topic here:
          https://www.kubuntuforums.net/forum/...ible-with-asus

You might get some sense for the issues in that thread, maybe some insights.

Regrettably, I cannot yet say for certain if my DIY plan works because I am still waiting for a component to arrive.
The components I'm using are as follows:

Case $95 Corsair 4000D Tempered Glass Mid-Tower ATX PC Case - White
Motherboard $179 ASUS Prime Z590-P LGA 1200 (Intel 11th/10th Gen) ATX Motherboard
          CPU $219 Intel Core i5-10500 - 10th Gen Comet Lake 6-Core 3.1 GHz LGA 1200 65W Intel UHD Graphics 630
          Memory $139 Crucial 32GB Kit (2 x 16GB) DDR4-2666 UDIMM, CT2K16G4DFD8266,
Storage $65 Samsung 870 EVO 500GB 2.5 Inch SATA III Internal SSD (MZ-77E500B/AM)
          Monitor $139 Asus VA24EHE 23.8” Monitor, 1080P, Full HD, IPS, 75Hz, HDMI D-Sub DVI-D,
Power Supply $120 Corsair RMX Series, RM750x, 750 Watt, 80+ Gold Certified, Ful Modular PS (CP-9020179-NA)
Speakers $20 Logitech 3.5mm Jack Compact Laptop Speakers, Black (Z130)

Total: 976 plus tax = 1044 (plus any Keyboard, Mouse, Fans, adapters, cables, etc.)

It might take awhile (a week?) before the component arrives. After I finally test it, I will be posting back here again to let people know how it went.

You will notice that I am NOT using the latest and greatest hot-rodding CPU or motherboard. That is intentional, for this mainstream build.
That's a great case, btw. Great PSU, too. Actually, great everything. I am optimistic it will work just fine with Kubuntu 20.04.
