    [SOLVED] Panels on secondary screen

    Good Morning,

How can I get a panel on my secundary screen? No matter where I right click, on primary on secundary screen, a panel is always created on my primary monitor. It should be possible to get panels on the secundary but I cannot find out how. Can I create it directly on the secundary screen or do I have to make it in the primary screen and then move it? If so: I could'nt find out how that works either.

    Who can help?

This might help, it is me moving a panel from my monitor to my TV. It should look very similar, though the Plasma version used is newer than what you have.
On the most current Plasma version, creating a panel happens on the screen you right-click on, and I don't have a 20.04 install on a dual screen setup to check, so I don't know if this is a limitation of Plasma 5.18, or some sort of bug.

Moving the panel, you may see that it sort of 'sticks' between screens, but it will move over to the other monitor.

Indeed, this is exactly what I discovered this morning. Yesterday during my "struggle," I more or less ignored the "screen edge" ("schermrand," in my mother tongue) option since I could not imagine that might had something to do with it. Although I had already solved it myself, I thank you!

"On the most current Plasma version, creating a panel happens on the screen" this is what I expected on my Kubuntu 20.04, and indeed I have plasma 5.18.8 running. It does look a bug or perhaps the developers simply overlooked it. Or it they thought it does not matter since panels on each monitor are possible anyway.

I created a dual screen VM for 20.04 using Virt-manager (I went down the rabbit hole!!), and in the virtual environment, Plasma 5.18 does seem to create new panels on one monitor, but again, this could be from the VM, which is a bit funky with dual screens, and also has to be using Wayland, which rather sucks for usage in 20.04/Plasma 5.18, let alone in a VM lol.

In more recent Plasma versions, it has been renamed to the much more useful "Drag to move"

The problem is indeed solved. Did you click on something that makes the word: solved appear? Or does it happen automatically? I am reasonably new here

Go back to your first post, click on "edit" in the lower right of the post, then you can choose a "Prefix" like [Solved]
