Gwenview does not refresh images

Gwenview has no refresh button. And re-opening a file changes nothing. The only way I can find to get it to refresh a modified image is to stop it and start it again, hardly user-friendly.

As a matter of fact, Gwenview lacks a lot of things in terms of controls, especially an explorer-style file navigator. I never use icons for navigating -- except in Gwenview.

Aside from that, I like it a lot and use it every day.

One more suggestion: Add a slide show that handles sub-directories.

Yes, it does. Thank you.

But tell me, how was I supposed to know that? Among the things that Gwenview is lacking is documentation. There is no "Help" button at all that I can find.

Well, Help > Gwenview Handbook from the title menu bar works, as well as just pressing F1 while Gwenview is running.

I am not sure you have the same version. I have 2.3.2 in Karmic and there is a menu option Menu>File>Reload F5 there and it works as appropriate, even it asks if I want to cancel all changes.
One can make the refresh button with this menu option using customize.

I never use icons for navigating

As an image viewer Gwenview uses previews to show image files. Then folder icons have the same size. I cannot imagine handling it the other way. When you switch on previews in Dolphin you will get the same behaviour.
