amarok doesnt like to play cds!

    amarok doesnt like to play cds!

    I have no idea why, but its really difficult to get amarok to play cds! When the device notifier sees the cd, if I tell it to open in amarok it does nothin, if I choose kaffeine it works fine, if I open it in dolphin same again, fine. I have to put the cd in and out play with amarok for ages to get it to see it, once it does its all good but its so annoying!
    Does any one have any ideas? Im hoping it will go away once I install 10.04, but I would like to know whats going on and waht I can do!

    Unfortunately, not much. Amarok, well, sucks with CDs, regardless of what the dev's say. So say many of us, who have given up on it. I removed it from my system completely.

      Awww I love amarok, I think its one of the best things about kde, but each to there own

        The new Amarok 2 series just does not play well (pun intended) with audio CDs. It's sad, because I agree with you - Amarok is a nice application. If they would just get it to work reliably with CDs it would be a fantastic program. The really sad thing is, that the 1.4 version did work with audio CDs.

          lol, yeah I know there was a lot missing when amarok 2 came out! ah wel may be one day!!!!

            You might like to try Kscd - a tiny kde program specifically designed for that purpose.

              Or it would just be nice to have an all-in-one media player that works well.

                  If I can figure out how to open up the script file for Amarok, I will try to look for a solution, if the issue is with Amarok's programming. It might be an issue somewhere in the OS. That would take a little more time to look for.

                  Maybe the issue might be solved in the Lucid Linx version of the OS.
