Right mouse on the KMenu icon and chose "Application Menu launcher Settings". In the dialog which appears uncheck "Recent" and "Favorites". Click OK.

Don't think so. Right mousing on the icon doesn't give you the option i mentioned? It's probably there on another icon, maybe the system one.

I just checked. The "Menu Editor" is there. Perhaps if you unlock widgets and right mouse on the "Favorites" star you'll see it.

But you can't remove the Favorites tab, or any of the other tabs in Kickoff.

have you tried right clicking on your kmenu (icon) and selecting menu editor.i can also get the menu by right clicking on ANY part of the k-menu frame including the lower icons that GG was talking about.
you can also run it with the command in a run box

Note that this issue (on my box) is that 'kickoff' does not have the uncheck/check option that you find in 'classic'.
and . . .
KMenuEdit (again on my box) only edits the items in the 'Applications' section of the launcher nothing else.
I was thinking that a little config. editing would solve the issue but it appears (thanks Rog131) that a little coding is required but I think my coding days are over and not appropriate as I was into some stuff similar to (dare I say) advanced HMTL and that over a decade ago!
Still I might give it a try - just for fun.
