    Can't install kmymoney2 on 9.10 after installing kde3.5

Can't get kmymoney2 to install after downgrading kde to 3.5. I get the error

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
kmymoney2: Depends: kdelibs4c2a (>= 4:3.5.9) but it is not going to be installed
Recommends: kmymoney2-plugin-aqbanking but it is not going to be installed

    Thanks for the help

    You can't install Kmymoney2 (3.97.2) on KDE 3.5 - it's designed for use in KDE 4.

I was trying to install 1.0.2 under synaptic. I've added to my sources http://ppa.launchpad.net/claydoh/ppa/ubuntu/ karmic main.

I'm running version 1 on KDE4 using the same repository as you, so it looks OK to me.

I think this is one for Clay.

          Re: Can't install kmymoney2 on 9.10 after installing kde3.5

Are you running kde3 on karmic (9.10)? the 1.0.2 package is an old one for Jaunty (9.04), and likely broken due to bad packaging on my part. I won't be packaging anything specifically for Jaunty anymore.

          try running
          Code:
          sudo apt-get -f install
and see if that installs the missing dependencies.

I would also suggest trying manually installing the missing packages listed in your error message, or try manually downloading and installing the the 1.0.4 Karmic packages (BOTH Kmymoney2 and kmymoney2-common) - they are built using the same kde3 libraries anyway, which are the same no matter which kde4 version of Kubuntu you are using.

Last resort is to "force" the install of the manually downloaded packages
          Code:
          sudo dpkg -i kmymoney*.deb --force-all
if you are installing kde3 from here
          https://edge.launchpad.net/~kde3-maintainers
it looks like they packager there renamed Karmic 9.10's kdelibs4c2a to kdelibs4c2a-kde3, which ultimately may be what is breaking things for you. My packages are looking for the official Ubuntu kdelibs4c2a package, while your system probably has the one named kdelibs4c2a-kde3 so apt thinks a required package is missing

Dunno why he had to rename it, I doubt it was necessary and will likely break a few other things. Should have just bumped the package version number instead of renaming it

Thanks claydoh. I had to force it to install. I'm using kde3 from https://edge.launchpad.net/~kde3-maintainers the kdelibs4c2d-kde3 is what caused the problem.
