    KDE version and installing programms

I just installed Kubuntu 9.1 and runned the updater.

Now I would like to know if this also updates KDE to the newest version and how I can see what version I have.

Also I would like to know the following.

When I want to install say 'libdvdread4' to view dvd's I get around 8 diffrent files when I search. Do I need to install them all or? And how can I use the desktop backgrounds I installed. I can change the themes but Im not able to change the background (I only see 1 and not the ones I installed).

    Thanks!

    Description: library for reading DVDs
libdvdread provides the functionality that is required to access many DVDs. It
parses IFO files, reads NAV-blocks, and performs CSS authentication and
    descrambling.
    .
libdvdread currently uses libdl to dynamically probe for libdvdcss at runtime.
If found, libdvdcss will be used to decrypt sections of the DVD as necessary.

      KDE upgrades:

      > Kubuntu.org

      > KDE Software Compilation 4.3.5 in Backports

      > KDE SC 4.4.2 Packages Available

And how can I use the desktop backgrounds I installed.
Wallpapers ? From where and how ?

In order to play commercial DVDs, you need to add the medibuntu repository and the non-free packages. All you need to know on this is found at the Medibuntu Community Documentation page.
