Very disappointing. Up until now, I thought that Amarok 2 was pretty decent. It had some annoying bugs, but overall it did play music well, better than the alternatives.
Previously, the file viewer had an interface consistent with "local music," except that if the tags were missing or messed up, the file viewer didn't skip files or put them in the wrong place. In this version, they broke the file viewer. The tree is gone, which makes it only useful if you have a perfectly flat directory structure (I don't). What's worse, when you have more directories that will fit in the window, there is no scroll bar. As I have many more directories in my music folder than will fit on the screen, that makes Amarok unusable if I ever want to play a band from later in the alphabet.
According to their web page, they created these bugs on purpose ("a rewritten and much simpler file browser"). So I find it unlikely that it will be fixed. It puts me in a bind, when it comes time to upgrade my main PC, to try and find a way to avoid upgrading Amarok. Probably can't be done. And I've tried every other Linux player (I think) and they all had showstoppers too.

I find this trend very disturbing - do not dumb down my software.
I also despise the new volume control - its a usability mess but was introduced because it looks "cooler". Hate that - imitations of analogue physical controls are harder to control with a mouse.
Does anyone know how to edit saved playlists? I just cannot figure out how to change them once saved. Its ridiculous.
