SOLVED akonadi tray icon not visible

I'm following another post to try and resolve some akonadi issues. It instructs me to load the akonaditray from the K > Utilities menu which I do but I do not get the tray icon even though system activity tells me akonaditray is running.

    Any ideas?

To obvious, but have you clicked on the 'Show hidden icons / Hide icons' icon on the left side of the System Tray?
