After updating to kde 4.4, kdm starts at an unusable resolution.
I'm guessing about 320x240. I can get a usable screen by ctlr-alt-f1
and then ctlr-alt-f7. Then the screen resolution is ok until I log out
and then I have to do it all over again to be able to use kdm. I added
'xrandr --output default --mode 1280x1024' to /etc/kde4/xsetup but
that didn't do anything. I had this problem when I upgraded to Karmic
but it was solved by an update soon after.
Thanks in advance for any ideas on what the problem may be.
Main problem was a broken video driver (nvidia). Adding Option "NvAGP" "1"
to xorg.conf finally corrected problem. What led me to the problem was all
3d apps crashed. Video problems are a serious pita.
