    No sound notifycations in KDE

I have no sound notifycations in KDE. I can hear music, sounds from games and browser. I even can hear login, logout and empty trash sounds. But such sounds like "Question", "Information message", "Alert" and "Error" do not work. They all are turned on in System settings -> System notifycations.

For example, if i select a file in Dolphin and press Shift+Delete, it shows a confirmation message. There must be a sound (because it was in KDE 3), but i hear nothing.

I did not have those sounds in KDE 4.2 running Mandriva, in KDE 4.3 running Kubuntu and now i do not have them in KDE 4.4. So, did KDE developers decided to make system quiet, or there is something in my configuration?

If you don't have alsamixer installed then install it. Run it in a konsole using sudo. The list of controls may extend to the right so use the right arrow to go to the one on the right end. It is marked "Digital". Use the up arrow to run its setting up to 80 or 90 (bui keep it out of the red). Exit alsamixer.

Not true. Just because something was in KDE 3 does not mean it got carried into KDE 4. Check System Notification Configuration for what is available.

There's a bug in KNotify which causes this: http://bugs.kde.org/207389
It also happens to me a lot of times.
