[RESOLVED] k3b hangs on startup

After upgrading to Karmic I can no longer run k3b. I tried running from the command line to see if it'd output any error messages:

$ k3b
K3bQProcess::QProcess(0x0)
K3bQProcess::QProcess(0x0)
K3bQProcess::QProcess(0x0)
K3bQProcess::QProcess(0x0)
$

That's all it prints. It starts, the GUI hangs, it returns to the prompt and the GUI remains there. It worked fine in 9.04.

Any ideas?

I guess this is just an old fashioned bug. I grabbed the latest updates last night but got the same result. I tried running k3b as root and it started the k3b setup. That's a handy tool which I didn't know about. It seemed happy with all the permissions. k3b itself still hung though.

I did notice that when k3b freezes, in the GUI it only gives options for CD projects. My two drives are both DVD so I guess it's confused about something.
