(Resolved) sound not on all software.

Hi everyone. I'M new to Kubuntu but not Linux (already used Mandriva 2007-2008 and 2009 in the past.).

I have no sound at all in Amarok. I have sound on flash player, firefox, vlc and kmplayer, but only in one software at time. No sound is available in mplayer (and no video too)
If I listen a video in VLC I lost system sound.

I use the default xine engine (seem pulse audio) Someone have a clue as of where is the problem?

My computer:
CPU: Intel Xeon E3110
Memory: 4GB of ram
Hard drive: Raptor 74GB 10krpm Sata
Video card: Nvidia 8800GTS 512
Motherboard: Asus Formula
Sound card: Audiotrack Prodigy HD2 Advance Deluxe (Envy24 HTS chipset)

My OS:
Kubuntu 9.10 (almost everything by default + firefox, VLC, kmplayer, flash player, nvidia 3d drivers, 3d desktop, wine)

Resolved:
After more than a week of searching I have found a solution here:

But I have no clue why Kubuntu doesn't install nor configure Pulse audio correctly This is fun as this was one of my last problem with Kubuntu (that will replace my Windows Seven Beta with it will expire.)

I have the same issue. What specifically from the linked thread worked for you?

I have thoguht about just removing pulseaudio and using alsa ... is this what you did?

Thanks 8) 8) I have been working on getting my sound back, off and on for over a week. The link you provided took care of my issue

Not sure what exactly created my no sound< i think when when I update my Kubuntu.

There is so many neat things I can do with Kubuntu, that I could never do in windowzzz

Raid 5 for important stuff, vlm, mysql, Apache, so many neat toys.

my Kubuntu is our family focal point, shares, ect..for our home network. Best part is read only on critical files (wife)

She uses her kubuntu account like a seasoned pc user, when in fact she is not well versed on using pc's
