Showing a folder's contents on a virtual desktop

I would like to devote one of the virtual desktops to displaying the contents of a particular folder. I see how to do that if the folder happens to be the ~/Desktop folder. But I've had no success in displaying any other folder. If I open the parent of the folder in Dolphin and try to copy that folder to the desktop, nothing happens. I can't drag it there, and although I can select it for the Copy operation, there's no way to paste it. I would be happy to have either just the folder, which I could then open, or the contents of the folder.

    How might I do this?

Just install the Folder View widget on the virtual desktop you want it on. Then configure it to show what ever folder you want.

      Almost but not quite

I tried using Folder View on a desktop and indeed, it enables me to display the folder I want. But unlike the display I get using Folder View from Desktop Settings, I have a folder within the desktop. What I'd really like is to display the icons the same way the Desktop icons are displayed using the Folder View of Desktop Settings, but with a different folder. Is that possible?

assuming your desktop is a "folder view" and not the new "desktop", right click on desktop -> folder view activity settings -> location -> choose other location and set path.now if you don't see that its a new feature in kde 4.4 and you will have to wait for kde 4.4 to be finished. in the mean time use the "folder View" widget snowhog was speaking of.
