    KSnapshot issue

When using Ksnapshot I usually set it to copy a region setting.

When including a region the coordinates are shown onscreen but the outline which usually appears in such programs showing the region selected for copying is missing.

I recall that feature being available in previous versions. Now it is a pain trying to figure if the entire region required has in fact been included; more a trial and error process.

    Anyone else see this happening?

    Re: KSnapshot issue

You're right. Just tried the Region setting. While you are shown the x,y coordinates as you first position the cross-hair then click and drag the area to copy, it no longer 'highlights' the area being marked. Yes, I'd say that is a definite shortcoming.

It's been reported: Bug 214250 - Ksnapshot does not draw borders on region snapshot anymore

The more who confirm this - add to the bug report - the more likely it is that it will be fixed.

Thanks for info; have added my 2 cents worth.

Hope they fix it as I can't find any suitable alternative in the repos.

            KGrab (official repositories)
            screenshot utility for KDE 4

KGrab is a fork from the KSnapshot utility in KDE 4 that provides more
functions such as printing as well as a standard menu.
Here the KGrab (region) is capturing black squares - full screen capturing is working.

Hmm. I wonder then, if it's a GPU driver issue, and not the application itself. We are both running the same Kubuntu, KDE, and KSnapshot. The only difference is you have an ATI GPU and I have an Intel. Hmm.

@Rog131 - Would you mind logging your 'it works with ...' to the bug report? It might help to isolate it to a GPU driver issue?

                        Re: KSnapshot issue

mine uses here the nvidia-driver (v.96 or the driver). at home its the ATI driver for my video (latest version from there web page). i will have to check when i get to my house to see if this is also working on the ati driver, then suggest maybe its something to do w/ the intel driver...

What GPU do you have? Intel? That it works for you now, with the -18 kernel makes me think it isn't the app or the GPU driver, but something in the kernel itself?

Intel mobo and CPU at this end with onboard sound & video. Have no idea why, but it is working just fine now and a very happy camper.

Would you confirm that it's a kernel issue by booting back into the -17 kernel and trying again? When the -18 kernel came in, where there other package updates as well?
