    Mplayer not working in 9.10

    This really isn't an issue I can attribute to Karmic. I wanted to remove all but the KDE from Karmic. The first time I ran Karmic, it started in Gnome, and I didn't like it. Just my preference. So I found a post on the Ubuntu forums on how to remove all but the KDE Desktop. Did that, and Mplayer didn't work after that. So I removed something that it needed, but I don't know what. And my attempts to reinstall Mplayer haven't fix the problem.

    I haven't tried other formats, but all the .flv files I have won't play in Mplayer. Dragon and VLC work great. VLC, of course, always works, dare I say.

    What the MPlayer is telling ?
    If you start the .flv from the konsole/terminal:
    Code:
    mplayer /path/to/the/clip.flv

    Here the mplayer is using the ffmpeg (> FFmpeg):
    ...
    Opening video decoder: [ffmpeg] FFmpeg's libavcodec codec family
    Selected video codec: [ffvp6f] vfm: ffmpeg (FFmpeg VP6 Flash)

    Opening audio decoder: [mp3lib] MPEG layer-2, layer-3
    AUDIO: 44100 Hz, 2 ch, s16le, 112.0 kbit/7.94% (ratio: 14000->176400)
    Selected audio codec: [mp3] afm: mp3lib (mp3lib MPEG layer-2, layer-3)
    ...

      Here's the response to the mplayer command:

      Code:
      The program 'mplayer' is currently not installed. You can install it by typing sudo apt-get install mplayer-nogui
      mplayer: command not found
      I have tried reinstalling it from Synaptic previously.
