    Wallpaper / Gimp question

I really like the Kubuntu Spotlight KDM and KSplash. I downloaded the wallpaper from here.

My resolution is 1920 x 1080 and the wallpaper looks a little grainy. How can I scale this with Gimp and have it still look right? This wallpaper looks great with the KDM theme and the KSplash!

Looks OK on my 1680x1050 resol. and itself is 1280x800. Anyway open the pic in GIMP. Go to Image --> Scale Image...
Change the dimensions there. I personally would just change the Width and let it auto adjust the Height. Then on the desktop wallpaper setting set it to scale and crop.

Yes, I did that. It doesn't look too bad. I was just trying to get the wallpaper to look as sharp as the other images.

Scaling 'up' an image is going to result in increased 'graininess' and can't be avoided. The exception is when the image is .svg (scaled vector graphics), but Gimp doesn't work with .svg files.
