Agree, it's a longish shot. I haven't exercised OOO on my sidux system very hard, but what few tasks I have done with Calc and Writer have been fine.

    Testing is 1.3.1.1-8
Sid version is 1.3.1.1-11, so there has been a bit of tweaking on it. It may or may not behave better.

Okay, I have installed 3.1.1 from Sun.

At first there were perpetual crashes which was fixed by renaming the openoffice folder in my home directory. Then starting OOo again and copying my autotext etc into there. Maybe there is a clue there.

Anyway, once up and running, I have not yet been able to make it fail to copy text to klipper. It's other kde integration is awful though. No kde dialogs and it's butt ugly - thought I had seen the back of the battleship grey interface..

So, my initilal appraisal is it seems to work, but it ain't pretty!

Now, I'll reinstall the 'buntu packages as I'm wondering whether the solution might have been what I did in the home directory.

        Whoa!!!!! Hit a roadblock.

Working on a spreadsheet the copy and paste function was defective - totally hit and miss so the Sun packages are not a solution to this problem.

I tried copying and pasting a 250row x 5 column piece of a spreadsheet, and could not induce it to fail in 6 or 8 copies. I did notice the the package version in Kubuntu is 1.3.1.1-5, versus the later versions in Debian Testing and Sid. My system is 64-bit Kubuntu 9.10, fully updated.

We can probably assume that 3.1.1-8 will show up in Lucid. Will that solve anybody's problems? That, of course, depends.

I have just install kubuntu 9.10 again + updates and openoffice calc seems to be functioning ok
Should the situation change from this, I will try and identify the cause
