OOWriter no text to html conversion TRACKING THE CULPRIT

    Running Kubuntu 9.10, latest version.
I need to convert a text file from .odt to html in preparation for a Kindle book.

The process requires File --> Send -->Create HTML Document.
In the past this process worked. I have successfully converted files.

After one of the latest updates this function apparently stopped to work. Instead of converting OO immediately crashes. The original file is recovered upon restarting OO. without any conversion.

Does anyone else experience this problem?
    Any known fixes?

Am I the only one with this problem?

12/17 - Just looks like it again. But then maybe I am the only one with a need to create hhtml from illustrated word files.
I have successfully created a 7.5 Mb html document (to place on Amazon Kindle books) from an illustrated OO word file before.

In hot pursuit of a possible culprit I found a small OO plugin (Writer2xhtml ) that deals with conversions. Installed it. Now I can convert 'clean' word files.
    Illustrated files still crash OO.

Is there anyone who knows of a solution? Or am i plowing virgin land?

I know I could transfer the file to Lucid and attempt a conversion there.
Or transfer it to my laptop (9.04 loaded) and do the same.
Problem is that the pictures do not get transferred and I en up with a worthless product.
