Kubuntu 9.10 suspending after 20 mins

I'm running Kubuntu 9.10 on a System76 Darter laptop. Clean install except for my home directory. The laptop is plugged in, but the system goes to sleep (suspend) after about 20 minutes of inactivity. I double checked that PowerDevil is running and I checked the various Power Management settings:

    1) "When AC Adaptor is plugged in:" = Performance
    2) Performance Profile - When System is idle more than 180 minutes, do nothing.

    Gnome's guidance-power-management is not running.

What else could I be missing? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Try "When AC Adaptor is plugged in:" = Presentation

Sadly, that didn't work. The settings for Presentation and Performance are pretty similar.

I have to admit, I haven't checked my BIOS yet.

I suspected KDE, since it was working fine in Gnome with Ubuntu 9.04. Then I installed KDE with Ubuntu 9.04 and the computer started sleeping automatically. So I upgraded to Ubuntu 9.10, but the problem remained. So I reformatted, installed KDE with Kubuntu 9.10 and the problem kept occurring. Meanwhile, I have made no adjustments to BIOS.

I'll check it out when I get home though. Thanks for the suggestion.

          Another suggestion:

          Go into "System Settings/Display/Power Control".
If "Enable display power management" is OFF, turn it ON and then toggle all three options to "Disabled".
I know this sounds ridiculous but it has worked for me in the past with other distros.

          Try it!

Great suggestion! Unfortunately, that didn't work either.

And no settings in BIOS to control power management. Darn.

Is it possible that it's not properly detecting that the AC adaptor is plugged in? Is there any way to check whether it thinks it's running off the battery or off AC power?

            Any other suggestions?
