    fbreader problems

I recently upgraded to Karmic, but I honestly don't know if the problem existed previously.
I have used fbreader for quite a while to read ebooks, and have had no problem, but recently it isn't working at all. I can load most books, but I don't see anything in the reader. The book(s) show up in the tree view, but selecting a book doesn't seem to actually load it. The title of the book shows up in the window title, but nothing is there. And a couple of books actually cause the fbreader to segfault when I try to load them. I have run from the command line to see if there are any errors reported, but nothing.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled, no luck.

    Has anyone experienced similar problems?

Not knowing how you originally installed fbreader....

    For Debian/Ubuntu users.

There are 2 ways to install FBReader on your computer: installation from our repository (recommended for almost all users) and manual installation.

    Installation from the repository:
add the following lines to your /etc/apt/sources.list:
    deb http://www.fbreader.org/desktop/debian stable main
    deb-src http://www.fbreader.org/desktop/debian stable main
    (optional) install our PGP key:
    download the key file
as root, run ‘apt-key add geometer.fbreader.org.asc’
    as root, run ‘apt-get update’.
(optional) by default, gtk+ interface module will be installed. If you prefer to use FBReader
with qt (or with qt4) inreface,
run with root privileges ‘apt-get install libzlui-qt’ (or ‘apt-get install libzlui-qt4’).
as root, run ‘apt-get install fbreader’.
Windows no longer obstructs my view.
Using Kubuntu Linux since March 23, 2007.

Snowhog: I shall try this install method. Thanks.
