[KDE 4.3.4] Ksplash slows down KDE startup?

Hi, I recently update to KDE 4.3.4 from PPA. I encountered a slow down in transition from Ksplash (KDE logo stage) to desktop.

Problematic behaviour:KDE start is delayed by about 10 seconds in splash screen (in final stage, when KDE logo is displayed).
Expected behaviour: KDE logo during splash disappears even before it is fully unblured.

Does anyone experience the similar problem?

I did the same upgrade on my 64b KK installation, running the 31-15 kernel.

My boot time to a working desktop is now under 35 seconds (which may be because of my dual core) and I've had no problems.

Well prior to the upgrade, I can achieve similar boot time and/or fast to desktop without problem.

Similar behaviour like this bug https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=206788 but I don't know what cause mine =/

mmmm... Let's test the idea it is a video display problem.

My video chip is an Intel GM45 and HAL uses the i915 driver.

        What's yours?

          - ATI Radeon Mobility 4330.
          - fglrx driver 8.660.
          - libgl1-mesa-dri, libgl1-mesa-glx, libglu1-mesa from ppa:ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates.
          - I also removed all desktop plasmoid for the time being

Anything else I can provide to assist the troubleshooting? I can provide xsession-errors and dmesg if you need.

          EDIT:
          - I change the splash screen to SimpleSmall, I can access the desktop in same the position as KDE icon (SimpleSmall splash has nothing fancy but only a black progress bar). Still have to wait 10-15s for it to blur out. When the splash's black progress bar is filled, the Log in sound is played.
          - Then I try to disable login sound, no luck, still the extra 10-15s compare to 4.3.3.
          - Something must went terribly wrong =( Are there any logs I can trace?

If it's not installed then install ksystemlog and browse at your pleasure. There is another log that ksystemlog doesn't have. It's at /var/log/user.log (or user.log.1).

I found the culprit. As long as I add a new Activity, the slowness will kick in regardless of number of plasmoid. If there is only one activity then the transition is blazing fast. Should I file a bug? Cos I use PPA repo which is unofficial

                "new Activity"

By all means file a bug report!
