Default Mail client will not change

Weird things are starting to happen. Kubuntu 9.10 KDE 4.4

Went to default application setting to change Kmail to Thunderbird mail. Looks simple. Tick the Thunderbird for mail client. Click on a highlighted link such as craigslist to open mail client and nothing happens at all. So I set it back to kmail same thing. Nothing happens.

I have to literally copy and paste the link in my email to get it to work. And it looks so simple! Ideas?

Or you could set the preferred mail client in your browser.

Thanks I will try that. For some reason the KDE default mail client even when changed will not work. It may be fine with KDE broowser but I use Firefox. Never thought about it there.

firefox does not integrate fully into kde, it doesn't read the kde setting for default mail client.
