Re: KDE 4.3.4 has been released
If you are already running KDE 4.3.3, then when it's available you should see the updates in your notifier.Windows no longer obstructs my view.
Using Kubuntu Linux since March 23, 2007.

Re: KDE 4.3.4 has been released
On a somewhat related note, I wrote a post in the nvidia linux forums about performance improvements coming to KDE 4.
http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=142028
The relevant part regarding KDE 4.3.4 comes from their list of changes:
"A bugfix in Plasma's pixmap cache makes the workspace more responsive"

Re: KDE 4.3.4 has been released
Just in case this happens to anyone else, I only had the backports PPA enabled to install 4.3.3. It appears 4.3.4 was only added to the Kubuntu Updates PPA. You will need to add the Kubuntu Updates PPA in order to get the 4.3.4 upgrade.
https://launchpad.net/~kubuntu-ppa
I don't know if they will add 4.3.4 to the backports PPA as well at some point.

1. ppa will not be syncronized to ubuntu mirrors, so users using a local mirror will not have access to ppa (launchpad for some contries is unacceptably slow)
2. the "p" in ppa means "personal", but we need to see "official" release of the update, which can be in karmic-update or karmic-backport, but not in ppa.

am I doing something wrong? or are the mirrors all over still populating?

Re: KDE 4.3.4 has been released
KDE used to hitch sometimes when maximizing certain windows, seems to be gone in 4.3.4. Cool."No theory, no ready-made system, no book that has ever been written will save the world. I cleave to no system. I am a true seeker." - Mikhail Bakunin

Re: KDE 4.3.4 has been released
i have a problem with the ppa repository.
back then when i used jaunty there was an announcement for the new amarok. i innocently added the ppa and got the kde 4.3 in an early beta along with it. everything went unstable .
i used the ppa to install kde 3.3.4 for now but i'm in fear that i will get an early beta of kde 4.4 through the ppa soon. any idea if that will happen?

Re: KDE 4.3.4 has been released
The PPA repositories are more or less experimental - when using the PPA repositories:
A) Do not enable the wrong PPA repository
- There are many Kubuntu PPA repositories:
> Kubuntu Backports
> Kubuntu Updates
> Kubuntu Updates Staging
> Kubuntu Experimental
- enable the right PPA repository
- update package database
- look what upgrades are available
- upgrade
- disable the PPA repository
B) Do not upgrade your installation blindly.
- enable the right PPA repository
- update package database
- look what upgrades are available
- upgrade
- disable the PPA repository
C) Do not keep the PPA repositories enabled all the time.
- enable the right PPA repository
- update package database
- look what upgrades are available
- upgrade
- disable the PPA repository
