Random, USB Disconnects are starting to PISS ME OFF!

Seriously, why the heck can't I get any sensible help with this problem, I've ran commands in the terminal to verify whether or not there is a USB connection, that does NOTHING to solve the problem, when my device notifier notifies me that I have a device connected, then that's what the terminal says when I run the command to verify that, when the notifier notifies me that I do not have a device connected, the terminal verifies that too. This does not solve the problem in any way, so how the heck can I tell the system to quit disconnecting my damn USB devices!?!?!?

Same thing with my sound, it will work sometimes, but if I have any sorta widget that notifies me of anything, when it notifies, I lose my sound, THAT MAKES NO SENSE!

So here I go, restarting my system so I can get my USB devices reconnected cause Linux randomly disconnects them and reconnects them.

That's really my biggest complaint agianst this system, it makes no sense why it would do this, and please, for the love of God, don' just tell me to run some sorta command that will verify whether or not I have a device connected, that does no good, I have a widget that does the exact same thing, so running a command that does the same thing as the widget is just as uneffect and useless.

I have no shorts in my wiring or anything, this is souly a software issue.

I hope the mods will sticky your post as an example of how to not get help.

Well, I've asked for help before, only got a few responses, nothing that helped at all, just people telling me to do something that does not do anything at all other than confirm that what's going on is going on.

I'm sure if you were new to a system and people told you to try something that didn't work and then offered no other help, suggestions or ortherwise and the problem persisted despite your investigation, you would be as pissed as I am.

You may want to retract your useless destructive statement, seeing how you pretty much just posted to flame me.

Hey mods, guess what, this Telengard guy is flaming me, simply because I'm asking for help on something that most of you refuse to help me with, nice way to welcome new users.

You're asking people to help alright, but step back and look at your OP again. Would YOU help someone with your attitude? http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/inde...2027#msg192027

Yes, I honestly would, but the help I would offer would result in a possible solution, I wouldn't just lead them in circles. That is why I am angry, people are telling me to do something that doesn't work, that does not even attempt to find the solution to the problem, but only verifies that the problem exists.

Also, I did not start that thread you referenced to, so how does it apply? I'm all for opensource and GLP, GNU, ect., but to in any way make the software better, there must be a bit of debugging done, I've presented you guys with a bug (which btw it gives me no error message) and your "solution" is to verify that there's a bug, that makes no sense, how about actually suggesting something that may help instead of telling me what I already know, or flaming me.

You seem to be suffering unnecessarily from several misconceptions. For the sake of offering you some real help, I will address one of them now.

Reporting your bug here does nothing to help fix the bug. If you want a bug fixed, then you have to report it to the developers. As forum volunteers, we have no chance of fixing any real bugs in Kubuntu.

As explained in the Kubuntu FAQ, bugs are to be reported on Launchpad.

So does that include not giving your assumption based of the problems described? I would think that surely someone else has ran into this before and given the fact that there are veteran users here, then they would surely understand the root problem that I may be facing.

Also, if I have a bug, but do not have an error window pop up, how the heck do I go about reporting it? All I can do is describe the error that is happening, I have no text from the terminal dictating what is going on when this happens, so I have no code to show any developers.

Are there any suspicious looking entries in your system log with a timestamp that matches your disconnect? If you post those perhaps somebody might be able to help you track down the problem.

I really can't find any, but also, I'm not exactly sure what I'm looking for, I checked it, but nothing looks like anything that would have to do with my problem.

Well, for starters, the attitude you bring to this forum determines a LOT about who and how will VOLUNTEER to help you. Capiche?

Secondly, no one can know A Priori, what YOU would call "sensible", so why should they stick their hand in the ringer?

Thirdly, no one KNOWS what YOU "really know" so how can we render help if we get our head handed back to us on a stick because we told you something you "already know"?

Forth, you're telling us WHAT to tell you and WHAT NO to tell you. No one is going to jump into that tar pit.

So, I care less if the following advice helps you or not, but after reading your complaint it sounds like your installation is automatically shutting down services. You can run

                      service --status-all

to see what your services are, and then run it again to see if the usbmount or alsa sound service is still in memory and just turned off, or they have been removed from memory.

But, I suspect that your problem is based on a bad LiveCD which was made without an md5sum check of the downloaded ISO, was burned at too fast a speed and/or the LiveCD option of checking the LiveCD was not run.
IF you met all those criteria when you installed KK then that leaves something you've done to modify the system, because your problem isn't universal.

                        Good thinking, GG.

Well, I don't think we should discount the very slim possibility that his hardware is incompatible. I am also not convinced that his USB bus isn't being polluted by some misbehaving device, regardless of the OP's assertions that his hardware is blameless.

People get frustrated, isn't that one of the things that Project Timelord is trying to address?

Well GreyGeek, I know you've never gotten angry, nor have you ever expressed that anger or frustration on a forum of people who you've asked help from before assuming that they may know the answer, we all know everyone here is perfect except for the novice and newcomer.

Anyways, what you suggested actually helped in some way, this is what I get concerning alsa:

                            [ ? ] alsa-utils

What does the question mark in brackets mean?

However concerning my usb ports, I can't find them anywhere in there since they just disconnected.
