In my USB port (I am only using one) I have a 1Tb Seagate external HD. I have a lot of my stuff backed up on to that thing. I don't really play that much music off of it either, I can play music either from my root, or from the external HD and I still will lose sound if a notifier pops up, or whatever, so I know the sound issue has nothing to do with external HD.

My USB just reconnected it's self again, so I ran the "service --status-all" command again and this is what I got:

I can't figure out which one of those is my USB device/port.

Also, pardon me if I might not be making sense, I'm on some really powerful pain klillers and muscle relaxers. I have a kidney stone, maybe in both kidneys, definantly in one of them, I'm only 25 and this is my second stone, these stones are causing muscle spasms in my back that are so painful they're pretty much unbarable, it's like someone jabbing a knife into your back and twisting it, I do not think, nor does my doctor think that the kidneys stones are causeing the pain, but that they may be causing my back muscles to spasms.

OK so you say that you lose sound if a notifier pops up and that your onley using the 1 USB port.....rite?

so what's the notifier poping up?

after looking at the segate page (not shur what model you have) I see that thare external drives have a smart power function that sleeps the drive after 15 minuts this may be the disconect problem you'r seeing!!!

why the sound prob I'm not shure BUT to see if it's the drive just disconect it for a wile (onley you knows how long to do it from how often it hapens) and see if the problem persist's.

plus you never posted the output of lspci

I'm sorey to hear about your back and kidney stons I know that is realey panfull and the meds will Fyou up and make you moodey I know.

I have a 500GB seagate freeagent drive that also had problems under Linux until I disabled the power saving.
