    K3B 1.68 sucks big time

I did a full upgrade and K3B has been updated to 1.68. The problems I'm having are the window cannot be resized or dragged, and thus I cannot organize my audio files when trying to burn a CD. Also, the cursor continues to spin as if working, but nothing happens. That's more of an annoyance than anything else, but K3B used to be the best burning program out there and clearly on par with Nero. This new version has almost zero functionality. I can't understand why they took a great program and flushed it down the toilet.

Anyway, is there any way to downgrade to a functional version of K3B? I really don't care for Brasero or xfburn.

    Options

This is Linux, there are lot of application and you could use whatever works with you. The developers are setting some applications as default applications but you don't have to use them..

    It has an example:
    Example - K3b

Here the K3b (1.68/KDE4) seems to work without problems but if there are problems there is an option to install the K3b (1.0.5/KDE3.5) to the Karmic...

Which window can't be resized/dragged (main window, burning window)?

K3b works as expected on my machine, have you tried cleaning up the old config files ~/.kde/share/config/k3b* in case there are some incompatibilities between older and newer version.

That's strange, I was using KDE3's K3b in Jaunty but I switched over to KDE4's K3b (1.68.0 on 4.3.3) for Karmic and so far I haven't even noticed anything different other than the widget style!

If you're really dead set on running KDE3's version of K3b, though, could you not just install it from the apt.pearsoncomputing.net KDE3 repository? Then you just have to add a shortcut with the proper environment variables set up and voila. That's what I was doing myself in Jaunty.

I will agrey that the continualy spining cursur is a little anoing but as far as the rest of what your saying I dont see........I can browse all my files (uper left pane) add them to the file pane (uper rite) drag the ones I want to the progect (bottom pane) and drag them around in thare to rearange (that dose copey them to the new location then you remove the one you started with)
convert to a diferent format and every thing elce I could ever do with the older K3b??

I think this must be specific to your system, I've been using 1.68.0 quite a lot recently and like other posters here see none of the problems you've mentioned, it just works. Though I'll give you that the spinning cursor is annoying.

Okay, admittedly I did just find a missing feature; if I go Tools -> Rip Video DVD, even though there's a Video DVD in there, it does absolutely nothing. I mean that I click on the option and nothing at all happens.

The "busy" mouse icon is a trivial bug in which the programmer forgot to reset the mouse to the default icon after a process was executed. It doesn't affect the excellent behavior of K3b on my 64bit KK installation.
