Kubuntu Karmic does not mount USB device automatically.

Since upgrading to Karmic Koala I have two problems relating to mounting of USB sticks:

    1) Kubuntu no longer mounts my USB sticks automatically:

I can however mount them manually using something like "mount -t vfat /dev/sdc /mnt/usb".

    2) Kubuntu does not allow users to get write permissions to the USB stick:

Tried fiddling with the options in /etc/fstab (like "users,rw") but to no avail.

Could anyone give me any tip on how to solve these nagging little problems?

    Would be very greatful!

Are you using the KDE4 ?
Do you have the device notifier plasma widget on ?

The KDE 4 is using a device notifier (or manager) plasmoid to present the options for a new device.

Some of the plasmoids have the option to automount.

Binaries can be found from the PPA repositories > Personal Package Archives for Ubuntu

      Thanks for your reply!

I guess I'll wait for the KDE 4.4 Device manager then. It looks great!

I'm running KDE 4.3.3 and I noticed that when I updated from 4.3.2 that I lost USB auto mounting.

I iinstalled usbmount (in the repository) and things work well again.
