VOB files in Mplayer / VLC

Hi Folks ...

THis is a weird one .... In Karmic I have a DVD backed up that I have always been able to play (before karmic) just by selecting the VOB file associated with the dvd menu .... now it won't .... but when i open one of the chapter VOB files it plays fine ...... i have libdvd2 installed and everything should be up to day .... ANy one have any idea ........

I would start by checking that the restricted package is installed
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RestrictedFormats

(there may be other relevant libraries missing in your system
