[SOLVED] Kubuntu 9.10 --> wifi connection doesn't work

Hi guys,
I upgraded kubuntu to 9.10 and the wifi connection has stopped to work (with 9.04 was ok) . I removed KnetworkManager but the problem persists . I noted the cmd "iwconfig" found my wireless "wlan0" but the info
Access point: Not Associated
seems to me bad , could it (NOT ASSOCIATED) be the problem ??

please do you have some idea ??
thanks in advance

Re: Kubuntu 9.10 --> wifi connection doesn't work

To the best of my knowledge, Karmic does not nave an intrinsic wifi problem. To resolve your problem, what wifi card do you have (specifically the chip).

My Buffalo G54 which has a normally problematic Broadcom chip, works well with knetworkmanager -- once I downloaded and installed the correct driver.

So a little info would be useful.

Re: Kubuntu 9.10 --> wifi connection doesn't work

at last I solved the problem .
thanks to dibl note, I followed the indications on the email (Re:another wireless question) about "wicd" and KDE4 that is removing "knemo" and "network-manager" and install "wicd", so as following:

sudo apt-get remove --purge knemo network-manager

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install wicd

reboot the system and now I have the wifi connection and all works.

I would like to know why a "new distro" must have these nonsense ??

thanks again dibl !!!
