auto search typing delay too fast in Dolphin

I don't know what it is called but when in Dolphin you can search for an item by typing the name and files fitting what you type are highlighted as you do so. The problem is that I have to type very fast for it not to see the letters as separate searches. ie if I was searching for fstab it would go to the first file starting with f and then unless I am really quick when I type s it would go to the first file starting with s instead of the first file starting with fs.

If this made sense is there anyway of slowing this down or is it a bug?

    thanks

The function you are looking for can be found by enabling the filter bar:

Open Dolphin go to Settings > Configure Dolphin, on the 'Startup' tab select 'Show filter bar', click OK.

This will show the filter bar at the bottom. You can leisurely type in your search terms.

Thanks for the reply. That works but takes up extra screenspace. I may report the problem on the kde forums and see if there is a fix or if it qualifies as a bug. The feature works but the typing speed is just way too fast.
