    Firefox does not start up

I have a fresh installation of 9.10. I used the software manager to install Firefox, which now appears as on icon on my startup menu. When I click on the Firefox icon, a new tab shows up for Firefox on the taskbar and the cursor starts flashing with the firefox icon. After flashing for maybe 10 to 20 seconds, the tab on the taskbar disappears as well as the cursor.

The package that I installed using the software manager is:
    firefox-3.5 - 3.5.4+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.9.10.1(i386)
safe and easy web browser from Mozilla

I check the log file in /var/log and the only firefox logging that I found was for the installation and I did not see anything unusual in the log files.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried rebooting, but the problem persists. Any other ideas?

Open your konsole, type firefox then enter. Watch for the output from terminal. I sense segfault.

Try start firefox in safemode, maybe there is an extension problem
            firefox -safe-mode

            Also try to reinstall

Re: Firefox does not start up

I tried running the command line version of firefox and 'firefox -safemode'. In both cases, the command runs and exits immediately with no error message at all. I'm running the tcsh and when I echo $status after running firefox the value is 1 which indicates the command was unsuccessful, but I have no clue what is going wrong at this point.

Re: Firefox does not start up

I got help on the Firefox support forum to check my .mozilla directory. The directory was munged. I created a new .mozilla directory and firefox startup properly.
