Where can I get KOffice 2.1? The Beta Backports repository is empty :(

Hi! I've read on KOffice's page that there's KOffice 2.1 RC 1 available. Then I looked at kubuntu.org and the latest news about KOffice is that the Beta 2 version is available, with a link to a PPA repository. I thought that even though a beta isn't as good as a RC, it's probably still better than the 2.0 version, so I wanted to download it, but found out that the linked repository is totally empty You can see that here: https://launchpad.net/~kubuntu-ppa/+archive/beta

So... how can I install some version of KOffice 2.1 (either a beta or a RC) on my Kubuntu?

Should be available (for karmic) in the 'experimental' repo

Thanks! I see it there I just have one question, is it the beta version or the RC? The version number doesn't really tell me anything

Thanks But I have another problem now... I installed KOffice from there and now every time I try to run it, it gives an error:

symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libkowidgets.so.6: undefined symbol: _ZNK16QAbstractSpinBox16inputMethodQueryEN2Qt16Inp utMethodQueryE

Does it mean that I need to install the Qt version from that repository too?

I have no way to confirm that either way (I'm on lucid with qt4.6 already), but it's possible you need qt4.6 (KDE4.4 will depend on it...and so might koffice2.1)...although the current packages seem to depend on only >qt4.5.1.

It may also be just that the packages are "experimental" (as the repo name suggests), and there might be issues that are unrelated to the qt version.

I'd say there is one way to test it (install qt4.6 from experimental and see how it goes), but I don't know what your comfort level is in backtracking the changes in case the experimental qt4.6beta causes more/other issues with your karmic system. So it's your call

Thanks for the reply I think I'll go back to KOffice 2.0. Krita 2.0 has one little but annoying bug that I hoped would be fixed in 2.1, but I don't want to accidentally break my system by installing an experimental version of Qt.

Sounds like the safest way to go about it. You should try again when koffice2.1 is released, I'm sure someone will backport it into karmic (if technically possible).
