    Screen saver runaway

I am using Karmic Koala, and I have a really annoying problem with screen saver. Actually, I never use screen savers (just turn off monitor), but I was curious, so I tried this feature in kubuntu 9.10. I did not install any new screen saver, simply clicked almost everything on System Settings → Look and feel → Desktop → Screen Saver (which was not a good idea). Afterwards, I left the panel with Start automatically _unchecked_, but something happened to screen savers. In every minute, Blank screen starts, does not matter what I am doing (just typing or moving the mouse). When I press a key or move the mouse pointer, it asks for password to unlock (of course „Require password to stop” is also unchecked). But if I do nothing, in ten seconds, blank screen disappears, and everything comes back (of course without password). Usually System Settings dialog works fine, but not when setting the time-out („After”), because it ignores my setting, and always defaults to 1 min (kscreensaverrc contains the correct value, and Enabled=false and PlasmaEnabled=false in it).

I also tried: xset s off -dpms, but it has no effect.

And a process started for each blank screen:

So, my new installation became unusable, can somebody help, how to get rid of this unwanted screen saver?

After putting the settings back to their defaults, have you actually restarted to see if a newly restarted session doesn't exhibit this behavior?

Yes, I tried new session, then reboot, but it is always the same.
