Webcam VX-3000 Microsoft Lifechat

Hi,
Using Kopete or amsn all I get for result with my webcam Microsoft Lifechat VX-3000 is a dark screen.
I found out the needed driver is Gspca/Spca 5XX-LE, specific gspcav1.(SUse website)
I think the driver is included in Kubuntu 9.10 but no result.

How can I get my webcam working under 9.10 Kubuntu?

The latest version of gspca that supports the Microsoft Lifecam VX-3000 is not included in the 2.6.31 kernel included with Karmic. You have 3 choices

1) If you are extremely brave, you can download the source from here
http://mxhaard.free.fr/download.html
build the driver, and install

2) If you are only moderately brave, you can download the latest version of the 2.6.32 kernel from here
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/

3) Else wait for the next major release...

Option 2 worked for me
