    audio support for XDMCP sessions

    Hi,

I've two computers - one very powerful machine and a second one which is a bit old. Both connected via Gigabit ethernet so that I can work on the older machine using XDMCP which works quite well. Both using Kubuntu 9.10.
The problem is that I don't know how to get audio working on the old system. When I start an application (in an XDMCP session) which is using the audio hardware I just get a message that my default audio device is not available and "" will be used instead.
I read somewhere that in older linux versions the Enlightened Sound Daemon has to be configured but I think the new KDE-sound-backend phonon(?) has built in support for network transparency.I just don't know how to configure it and could not find any documentations for this kind of setup.
Can anybody help me out with that? I would already be happy if I could hear the sound on the machine I connect to (powerful machine).

    THX
