Re: I only get sound in Amarok (PCM channel is active) [SOLVED]

Just getting my problem back at the top. It is driving me crazy. No YouTube, no online radio, no embedded vids.
    Any other suggestions out there?
Does anyone know why alsamixer failed?
Thanks for any help you can offer.

was this a clean install or upgrade?

I ask becos I read a post somewar that after a upgrade a user's grub dident get updated to boot the new kernel thay had and booting the old kernel cawsed probs.

look in /boot and see what the newest kernel in thare is and see if thats what your booting.

        Hi Vinny,
        Thanks for your time.
I got into boot but where do I find the kernel?
        What am I looking for?
How do I see what the newest one is?

              Vinny,
I upgraded about two weeks ago. From one I can see, my newest kernel is from April. What now?
              I get this;

                your newest kernel is vmlinuz-2.6.31-14-generic

but your booting 2.6.28-11-generic and thats prob the problem we nead to fix you'r grub to boot the new kernel.

are you using the new grub2 or lagesy grub

                do

                Code:
                cd /boot/grub
then the ls and post the output.

I was on the verge of going back to XP if this hadn't worked. You saved me once again Vinny. It even got rid of the two fine 'load lines' that kept edging backwards and forwards at the top of my monitor.
                              Thanks a million man.
Can I delete my other grub file now?
