Which ones are the Akonadi-resources?

I added my calendar (std.ics) and addressbook (std.vcf) to the Akonadi resources in System Settings, but I'm actually not sure what this does...

In the contacts app there is only one resource called "resource" (which is std.vcf).
For the calendar app there is only "Default Calandar" (std.ics) and "Birthdays" ...

I posted my stdrc on the thread you linked to, ds_shellback.

From your stdrc file you posted you're NOT using the akonadi resource.

Just check that in system settings for akonadi you've set a vcard file pointing to /home/<login name>/.kde/share/apps/kabc/std.vcf and an ical file pointing to /home/<login name>/.kde/share/apps/korganizer/std.ics where <login name> is your login name. (I'm sure you've already done that).

And you should have Birthdays & Anniversaries listed!

If you want to see akonadi fire up, click stop on the akonadi server configuration tab (assuming you're not using any akonadi resources at the moment).

Now fire up Kontact and go to Contacts at the bottom should be the address book pane, if not goto View->Address Books.

Click on the green + and select akonadi address book, this should list std.vcf in the pane.

Now comes the tricky bit and the reason for my other post, because you need to delete the Default address book that's listed in the pane, otherwise both the default address book and the akonadi address book are used giving you double entries.

It's easy enough to delete the default address book from the pane by highlighting it and clicking on the red X, but I have found no way to set the akonadi address book as the default than shutting down Kontact and editing the stdrc file as indicated in the other post.

If you've done all the above you just need to edit ~/.kde/share/config/kresources/contact/stdrc and under [General], set the parameter Standard= the sequence of letters identifying your akonadi address book resource.

If you don't do this before you fire up Kontact again the Default address book comes back to haunt you.

If you go to Calender in Kontact after this and do the same in the bottom pane to add the akonadi calender resource. in this pane you can right click and get a useful menu, but not in the one for Contacts - I think this is a bug? and it's why you need to manually edit the stdrc file.

The instructions work, as of yet I did not have to edit stdrc.
