Firebird 2.1 Installation Problem ( a bit urgent)

    Hello Friends,

I downloaded KUbuntu 9.10 on 30th Oct and installed on 31 Oct.
I am extremely happy with its pleasure to work with.
For networking I used same old trick of editing interfaces and resolv.conf files.
Still I could not manage to get network manager working for me.
Anyways excluding such minor glitches its a extremely quality product.

Now my problem I do development with firebird so after initial trials with
9.10 I tried to install firebird 2.1 as usual with downloaded tar.gz but it failed
with dependency error libstdc++.so.5. I tried putting symlink to libstdc++.so.6
but still it failed. Next I tried repository install but it also fails without any error
anyhow I need to get firebird up and running by monday to meet my schedules
otherwise i have to get back to 9.04/8.04 and later when problem is solved
    reinstall 9.10.

So can somebody tell me where can I get libstdc++.so.5 or any other workaround.
on 9.04 i feel that i have installed compat-lib package to get firebird working
but kubuntu 9.10 dont have such package in repository.

Please help me. Thanks and best regards

    Raja
