All other users vanished from start-up menu (SOLVED)

Just upgraded to Karmic. All went well. Except...
    - somehow, the system seems to reboot a second time spontanously, even asking root password. Then it goes on (without the input) and starts up KDE.
    - all other users, except myself, are gone from the system. When you start up user management, they're there, in the config, but they just do not show up...

Can you still enter the user names/passwords manually and log in?
If so, you probably will need to go into System Settings and look at the login manager setup and try out different themes that include a spot for a user list

Not quite sure what you mean by "login manager setup"...?!?

in systemsettings, look for the 'login manager' section for configuration options, including the theme. I am thinking initially that the default login theme does not provide an area to display a user list. Installing another theme would verify this.

My karmic also does not show a user list, but I am still able to manually enter a username and password to log in as one of the different users.
