    Make sure you try

    Code:
    sudo apt-get update
before installing. Firefox is not packaged on the CD-Rom due to space. It will have to be installed from the net.

Thanks monte. It worked fine installing it manually after "sudo apt-get update".

I'm just surprised the installer didn't work out-of-the-box.

Re: Mozilla Firefox browser installer not working

the instaler dose work out the box...........but the way it works requiers you to update the package list's for the reposatorey's YOU have inabeld on your system..........and that means runing sudo apt-get update so it can check the repos you have for packages.

+ if you add a repo you must run the sudo apt-get update so it can chek the newley added repo for stuff for your system.............in short it is allwase a good idea to run sudo apt-get update befor installing eneything and allwase run it befor doing a sudo apt-get upgrade to check for eney upgrades for your system

on a side note the GUI package tools kpackagekit, adept, synaptic. all do the update as thay open!
