[SOLVED]kpackage kit failure

kpackage kit failed to update so i went to terminal and

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade

then i got this error

this was first try in terminal then i ran

E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'sudo dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem.

so then i tried udo apt-get update --fix-missing
I go no errors but when i tried udo apt-get upgrade --fix-missing

Something to try:

1) Clean the package cache
Konsole:

sudo apt-get clean

2) Update the package database
Konsole:

sudo apt-get update

3) Try to correct a system with broken dependencies in place
Konsole:

sudo apt-get -f install

The difference between the upgrade and the dist-upgrade (man apt-get)

upgrade

upgrade is used to install the newest versions of all packages currently installed on the system from the sources enumerated in /etc/apt/sources.list. Packages currently installed with new versions available are retrieved and upgraded; under no circumstances are currently installed packages removed, or packages not already installed retrieved and installed.


dist-upgrade

dist-upgrade in addition to performing the function of upgrade, also intelligently handles changing dependencies with new versions of packages; apt-get has a "smart" conflict resolution system, and it will attempt to upgrade the most important packages at the expense of less important ones if necessary. So, dist-upgrade command may remove some packages.

The only error i got so far after the sudo apt-get clean was the standard us sudo apt-get -f install . then i got an error something about JVM not installed. then it said i had 201 updates to do .I think tho the upgrade went thru without any major errors . i will have to see if jvm meeds to be install after the reboot . sudo apt-get install sun-java6-jre
seems to have been what it wanted went in ok ;-0

now it seems the open office updates are crashing it did another manual update and upgrade went ok
I ddi the open office upgrade by it self and now kpackage kit seems to be work thanks again
