Re: SOLVED - Need a little help to fix broken grub2 - error 15

Your Error 15 ... somehow, probably, you had some corrupt files in /boot/grub, who knows for sure. But your re-install somehow cleaned it all up. These issues (upon booting) tend to occur right after you do some new bootloader installation as you had done. Like you say, you fixed it!

One lesson might be, with GRUB 2, either update-grub (actually, you should use grub-mkconfig) and/or grub-install will fix many things, even when you don't know why.

      That did the trick :-)

I have read the grub2 howto. Very nice job! I am going to come back to that one many times in the coming days.

Will you make a section about how to make your boot look a little prettier eventually? I have heard something about grub2 being able to provide a nice graphical interface to the boot and I am very curious to what can be achieved with it.

        Glad the kdesudo worked

Here's one you will like, perhaps the best grub.cfg reference on the market so far (the most comprehensive):

        --No.
Actually, I have little interest in that, never really got into the GRUB aesthetics, but maybe I will someday.
Did you see kubicle's post Reply #30?
Another how-to writer that is heavy into the GRUB graphics is Herman:

--Yes, you're right, GRUB2 shines here. Start with the kubicle & Herman links.
