beta freezes

hi for some reason it took me 2 days to install beta for some reason i didn't want to install. but now that i have it install it freezes for now reason after bout 10 minutes or so. i have no idea why. the partition is ext4 is that right well actually i tried it on all of them but any help would be usefull. or maybe i don't have right hardware maybe someone can tell me where to check software specs im sure its not very high its linux which i like . thank you very much, im a very very newbie

Hi. Sorry to read that you have had problems installing and running Karmic.

Did you use the desktop CD or the alternate CD to install? During the install, where there any particular messages that were displayed that might help in diagnosing the problem?

A "freeze" could be a problem with the video. Do you have an intel, nvidia or ati graphics card? What model? Do you have desktop effects enabled? If so, have you tried without them?

Check the log files for specific messages that might indicate the problem.

Also, Ericz: keep in mind this is still expected to be unstable software. Besides Kevinc's questions/suggestions, please keep upgrading all the packages daily, Karmic is going under heavy development. Most of the interfaces are fixed by now but there are bug fixes and updates flowing in all the time.

karmic is still in development but i installed it since alfa6 and it works good . and the reason of installing it is to report bugs or better to confirm it because i am not linux expert .

So if u need a stable system go back to 9.04 and if u need help post more information about your hardware so the experts can help u
