DMT tool linux

Hi all
I am trying to run DMT tool in Linux http://www.kitz.co.uk/routers/DMTv7.htm.
Supposed to work with wine http://forum.kitz.co.uk/index.php?topic=1630.0
The tool will only connect if you run it as root ,but I just cant seem to do it can some one help me out please.
I have tried the method in the second link but I get this message in terminal :

root@koba:/home/steve/Download/DMT.exe# wine /home/steve/Download/DMT.exe
wine: could not load L"Z:\\home\\steve\\Download\\DMT.exe": Invalid handle
root@koba:/home/steve/Download/DMT.exe#

I am using root service menu to open terminal as root

Where am I going wrong ?

root@koba:/home/steve/Download/DMT.exe# wine /home/steve/Download/DMT.exe

From the above, you are in a directory called DMT.exe. From that directory, type:

wine /home/steve/Download/DMT.exe/DMT.exe
