I had earlier installed Karmic Alpha 3 and used it for about six weeks. As usual, I downloaded the alternate CD image and installed it with encrypted home and swap partitions. This worked without problems (but I moved on to other distros because of nm and wicd.)
Recently, I downloaded the alternate Karmic alpha 6 and installed it with encrypted home and swap. On startup, at the prompt for the passphrase there are two problems:
1. The correct pass phrase is not accepted.
2. The pass phrase is displayed on the screen.
The earlier alphas did not have this problem. There have been changes made to the installer, actually an extra step which asks for confirmation after selecting all partitions and before setting the mount points for the encrypted partitions, but it doesn't help the process, just an extra, unneeded, confirmation.
Anyone else had this problem? As Beta is due on October 1 and the final release by the end of the month, I hope that this can be fixed soon.
