[solved] set panel icon spacing manually?

    Hi, folks - first post.

Is there any way to manually set the icon spacing on a panel? The panel thinks it's smarter than I am.

    thanks -

Welcome - do you mean icons on the task manager ? or something else ?

There are alternatives for the task manager:

    plasma-widget-stasks (official repositories)
    a task manager replacement

stasks is a space saving replacement for the standard task manager. It shows
information about open programs in a hover image on mouseover and is
    customizable.
plasma-widget-smooth-tasks (binaries could be found from the PPA repositories)
    a task manager plasmoid

This is a fork of mbaszczewskis STasks plasmoid.
For the original STasks code go there:

This taskbar replacement has window peeking similar to
Windows 7 when you use the kwin 'highlite window' effect.
Even if this effect is not used you can click the tooltip
in order to activate the corresponding window.

They have settings for the "Space Between Tasks" and "Icon Scale"

Thanks - no, I meant the panel itself. I kinda like to group icons on the panel but the panel wants to arrange them for me and I can change the order but not the spacing.

Have you tried to add a spacer between the icons ?

I didn't even see that. We'll try that and see how it goes - thanks.
