    [Solved] hp-setup issues

Because my printer (HP color laserjet 1600) was broken for a while I haven't been able to print with it lately.

With it fixed I plugged it back in and iot printed fine (even better than before) under jaunty.

Karmic (alpha5 upgraded from alpha2) doesn't like it very much.

I get a plugin error window telling me to run hplip-setup which I do.

It sees the printer just fine but won't download the plugin from HP saying something about my internet connection (rubbish).
So I download the plugin manually from the hp page.

Using hplip-setup with the manual install option makes hplip-setup hang after choosing the file.

HPlip is installed according to synaptic and reinstalling is of no use.

Unplugging or restart gives the same behavior all over again.

    Any one else with this?

    Re: hp-setup issues

I have a fresh install of Alpha 5 on two of my systems and am using an HP OfficeJet 6310 printer. Actually, I have the printer plugged into my wireless router, via an ethernet connection. Running hp-setup worked just fine here and I'm able to print from any of my boxes with the HP Officejet.

Hmm... I got hp-setup to work with:
      Code:
      kdesudo hp-setup

Edit: I don't know it wants sudo so I still a bit puzzled
