    Amarok 2.2 Beta 1

    Hi There

Don't know if this is the right forum for this question, if not feel free to move it ?

When will Amarok 2.2 Beta 1 be available for kubuntu ? Or are we waiting for the official release of the beta and not the git version I am using karmic

    Ciao

    Re: Amarok 2.2 Beta 1

It depends Amarok. The Amarok "Roadmap" > RoadMap
This is the roadmap for future Amarok development. Open to change - its actually named after the Road Map to Mid-East Peace...

    but the Myriam Schweingruber told:

Full Circle #27 - out now!

...But there are good chances that
Amarok 2.2 or at least a beta version of it will eventually be shipped
    with Karmic....

So the Karmic could have the Amarok 2.2. It could be /1/ added as a PPA repository as the Koffice > KOffice 2.1 Beta 1 now available
Users of our latest development release, Karmic, can install it from the following repository:...

/1/ The Karmic is at the > Feature Freeze
The Feature Freeze is now in effect for Karmic. The focus from here until
release is on fixing bugs and polishing.

If you believe that a new package, a new upstream version of a package, or a
new feature is needed for the release and will not introduce more problems
than it fixes, please follow the Freeze Exception Process...

Amarok 2.1.80 (2.2 Beta1) is now available for karmic in the "kubuntu-beta" ppa:
        deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/kubuntu-ppa/beta/ubuntu/ karmic main
(the same repository as koffice 2.1 beta)

          Re: Amarok 2.2 Beta 1

as the "kubicle" told, the Amarok 2.2 beta 1 (2.1.80), could be found from the > Kubuntu Beta Backports:
Backports of beta versions of KDE and major KDE apps

A way to add the Kubuntu Beta Backports (> Topic: Adding PPA repositories with the Karmic) :

          Konsole:
          Code:
          sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kubuntu-ppa/beta
          Executing: gpg --ignore-time-conflict --no-options --no-default-keyring --secret-keyring /etc/apt/secring.gpg --trustdb-name /etc/apt/trustdb.gpg --keyring /etc/apt/trusted.gpg --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv E4DFEC907DEDA4B8A670E8042836CB0A8AC93F7A
gpg: requesting key 8AC93F7A from hkp server keyserver.ubuntu.com
gpg: key 8AC93F7A: public key "Launchpad Kubuntu Updates" imported
gpg: no ultimately trusted keys found
          gpg: Total number processed: 1
          gpg: imported: 1 (RSA: 1)
and the Kubuntu Beta Backports is added with the GPG key.

          Updating:

          Code:
          sudo apt-get update
          Now there are:
          Code:
          apt-cache show amarok
          Version: 2:2.1.1orig-0ubuntu5
          Version: 2:2.1.80-0ubuntu2~ppa1
          Upgrading:
          Code:
          sudo apt-get install amarok
          Reading package lists...
          Building dependency tree...
          Reading state information...

The following extra packages will be installed:
          amarok-common amarok-utils liblastfm0
          Suggested packages:
          libqt4-sql-psql
The following NEW packages will be installed:
          liblastfm0
The following packages will be upgraded:
          amarok amarok-common amarok-utils
3 upgraded, 1 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
Need to get 54.8MB of archives.
After this operation, 119MB of additional disk space will be used.
Do you want to continue [Y/n]?
Disabling the Kubuntu Beta Backports repository and updating the package database.

          About the Equalizer

          > Amarok 2.2 – Reloaded, revamped, rethinked, reeverything!

          zizzfizzix & SVGCrazy
Equalizer is already in Amarok, just needs latest phonon snapshot so doesn’t work on every machine atm.
I am using 2.2 trunk and equalizer is already there. But you have got to have the latest phonon snapshot (trunk) compiled too.

By the way, equalizer is working perfectly..
