    FF 3.5 on KK

For those of you want to have FF3.1* upgraded to FF3.5

    Try this:
    http://ubuntumanual.org/posts/193/in...u-the-easy-way

    run
    Code:
    ubuntuzilla.py
as suggested in the link above.

You will get an error at the end so run:
    Code:

    Re: FF 3.5 on KK

On my system, the old problem of the firefox process not being killed when exiting firefox-3.5 (er, shiretoko) has returned. Only on Karmic, not on Jaunty, and only with ff-3.5.x. It isn't a firefox extension; moving .mozilla elsewhere and letting firefox set up a clean .mozilla does not solve the problem. Easy to fix with "pkill firefox", but if i forget, restarting the system puts firefox on the screen.

Right on! It did the same on my system. Setting "Preferences" gave me a nice empty window.

Further more, I attempted Fintan's method of installing FF 3.5. It did not work for me. Purged the installation. But it left some files behind that Clamav identified as a virus (false positive).

I'll just wait till the issues are resolved.

Unfortunately, ubuntuzilla will only install the 32-bit version & NOT the 64-bit version. There is an amd64 version of ubuntuzilla but it installs the 32-bit version as well. That would be all fine and well except that I am using Adobe's experimental 64-bit flash plugin [which I'm very happy with BTW even as an alpha].

Is there an official or even unoffficial version of a 64-bit version of Firefox 3.5? I haven't been able to find it either on Mozilla.com or through google.

          @timmek
I don't know but google gives me this (among other things ):
          http://blog.cosmix.org/2009/06/23/we...-linux-in-3-5/

          and this:
          http://wiki.mozilla-x86-64.com/Main_Page

There doesn't seem to be a linux version (yet)

Then again swiftweasel seams to have one:
          http://sourceforge.net/projects/swiftweasel/files/

          Quite confusing
